A Chancery decree of 21 July 1812, made in a creditors' suit over William Hurst's debts, ordered his freehold estates sold. The Cambrian of 26 June and 11 September 1813 advertised the sale of his freeholds in 'Landough juxta Penarth', St Andrews, Cadoxton, Merthyr Dyfan and Roath at the Cardiff Arms on 29 September 1813, with particulars and an estate map available from a firm of Cardiff solicitors. A certified report of the sale, dated 15 November 1813, is catalogued at Glamorgan Archives; its catalogue line names the buyer of lots 12 to 16 only. A sale under a Chancery decree was run before a Master, who reported each lot and its buyer, and the court confirmed the report by order, so the full lot list and the buyers should exist. These records do not name the house: whether any lot became part of the farm is not known. They would show who held the Llandough-juxta-Penarth land before the Bute estate's record of the farm begins in 1824. Parcel not identified (matching the lots' names and acreages against the c.1841 tithe, Llandough 196-267 and Leckwith 275-281, would identify any).

Who should hold it: Glamorgan Archives (the certified report: catalogue entry read, item not yet seen); The National Archives (the Court of Chancery's decree and order books for 1812-1814; not checked); the particulars and the estate map (whereabouts not known)
