Ownership of the 0.74 ha Leckwith Road objection site beside the former quarry (open question)

The Inspector’s report on objections to the Vale of Glamorgan Unitary Development Plan (volume 2, section C13.3) records objection 232.4 by the Land Division of the Welsh Development Agency, seeking a housing allocation for ‘an area of land measuring about 0.74ha and located on the northern fringe of Llandough’. The report describes it as ‘a sloping area of pasture land with sporadic tree cover’ that ‘abuts Leckwith Road’, with its north-eastern boundary ‘formed by the upper lip of a former quarry/brickworks site now occupied by the Llandough trading estate’, and adds that ‘a previous Inspector also reached a similar conclusion when dismissing an appeal on this site in 1992’. Who owned the site, and whether it was ever part of Great House Farm, is not shown: an objector is not necessarily the owner. Open question: who held the title when the 1992 appeal and the plan objection were made, and whether the land appears in any earlier conveyance of the farm. Parcel not identified: the plan’s objection-site map, the 1992 appeal decision or the registered title plan would identify it.
