The Court of Appeal (1987) recites a Bute estate tenancy document of February 1916, so an agreement, counterpart or rent-book entry existed and was before the parties. The document itself is the contested item: whether it reflects the family's tenure is exactly what is in dispute, and no copy is held. It is dated weeks after the 3 February 1916 probate of the will of Mary Williams of Great House Farm (MR for the will, this register).

Who should hold it: Bute estate / Mountjoy records; WGR and BP deeds packet; parties' 1986–87 litigation files

Date of the record: 1916-02
