Museum Wales Ref 13.2 — a waterwheel collected from Llandough Farm (opposite the hospital) in 1979
Why it is not ours: The museum catalogues the waterwheel as from Llandough Farm (opposite the hospital), a separate farm from Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr.
The record
- In its reply of 5 October 2026 to FOI 2026-036, Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales named two further records: a waterwheel collected from Llandough Farm in 1979 (Ref 13.2) and a page of the 1924 Llandough Estate sale document (MS 3360/3).
- On 7 October 2026 the museum described Ref 13.2 as a waterwheel from “Llandough Farm (opposite hospital)”.
- The same museum reply grouped the names in one phrase: “No further records relating specifically to Great House Farm / Ty Mawr / Llandough Farm, Llandough were identified”. That is the museum’s wording, quoted as written; Llandough Farm is a separate farm (KF-35).
- Follow-up questions sent to the museum in October 2026 ask which site Ref 13.2 relates to.
What it does and does not establish
On the museum’s own catalogue description the waterwheel comes from Llandough Farm, not from Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr. It does not establish anything about the farmhouse at Tŷ Mawr or its finds.
Next step
Read the museum’s answer on the site of Ref 13.2 when it arrives; reopen this card only if the answer places it at Tŷ Mawr.
