Llandough Farm — a separate farm, not Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr / Cydfin Farm
Why it is not ours: A separate farmstead with its own deeds: Llandough Farm, 166 acres, NLW D 219/9–13 (1824–1832), against 107 acres for Cydfin Farm or Tŷ Mawr Farm (D 219/1, 4–5, 8 et seq.). The 1824 survey plan labels Llandough Farm apart from Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm.
The record
- The National Library of Wales catalogue of the Bute estate records (D 219) describes Llandough Farm (166 acres; deeds D 219/9–13, 1824–1832) separately from Cydfin Farm or Tŷ Mawr Farm (107 acres; D 219/1, 4–5, 8 et seq.).
- The 1824 Stewart survey plan 19 (EV-0211) names “Llandough Farm” as its own place on the plan, beside the Village of Llandough, Wellspring and the River Ely, and apart from “Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm”.
- Llandough Farm was the Rees family farm in the 1841 tithe and in press reports from 1865 to 1910 (EV-0228).
- The 1940 Western Ground Rents tenancy to David and Thomas Thomas concerns Llandough Farm (EV-0233).
What it does and does not establish
A positive identity correction: the two holdings are separate in the catalogue and on the 1824 plan. “Llandough Farm” is not a name of the property, and its 166 acres, its deeds and its tenancies cannot be carried over to Tŷ Mawr because both lie in the same parish.

Exclusion means “not this property” or “not in scope”, not that the source is false, and not evidence of wrongdoing by itself.
