Artifacts: replies from public bodies

77 artifacts · newest first

How these artefacts relate to the working theory.

Most items here are public-body replies or attachments. They principally establish what was requested, searched, disclosed, recorded or referred to—not the ownership of the land. The title-related artefacts (including the Bute finding aids, 1965 deed/contract, HMLR first-registration schedule and title-history letters, and historic maps) can direct or test specific lines of inquiry; none substitutes for the operative deed, plan, application or decision record.

The individual artefact pages now state their relevance and limits, including material that cuts against the hypothesis. A “not held” reply, a delayed retrieval or a catalogue gap is not, by itself, proof of deliberate suppression. Read the working theory and its tests.

Small print: dotted links explain a word (see the glossary); amber-shaded links list every name the records use for the same thing.
