# FILBA business side for a small foreign publisher: free professional registration, Nuevo Barrio free stand, and what the rights programme really is

Harvest 2026-10-31 (skills harvest). Proposal only: no registration made, no account opened. (Dates, DHL 50 kg and the visitor numbers are already in the Día del Libro + FILBA 2027 plan; this file covers the business doors.)

## What exists (FILBA Profesionales page, read 2026-10-31)
- **Jornadas Profesionales 20-22 Apr 2027**; public fair 22 Apr-10 May 2027.
- **Registro sin cargo**: free registration to the professional community. Gives the credential (also free entry on public days), a **dynamic online directory** to find and message colleagues worldwide, Business Center meeting space (cafeteria, computers, WiFi). The directory is the only online element found; there is **no online/virtual rights table**.
- Last edition: 13,000 professional attendees, 672 exhibitors, 20 countries/communities, +30 countries linked; UK (Reino Unido) is on the list of countries whose professionals took part. DHL free international shipping up to 50 kg (6,900 kg shipped in 2026) - print only.
- **Encuentro Editorial / Fellowship FIL 2027**: exclusive meetings "orientadas a promover la venta de derechos de libros argentinos" - i.e. foreign editors come to **buy Argentine rights**. It is not a table where a foreign publisher sells its own rights. A UK publisher could only apply as a buyer (contact on the page; application terms not checked).
- **Nuevo Barrio** (9th consecutive edition): **free stands** funded by Fundación El Libro for **12 selected publishers**, open to national *and international* publishers; selected on catalogue quality and diversity ("bibliodiversidad"). 2026 cohort included Aletheya (Arequipa, Peru) and Deletreo (Montevideo, Uruguay) alongside 10 Argentine houses - so foreign independents do get in. Selection criteria, call dates and minimum catalogue size: **not published on the page; not checked**. Every 2026 exhibitor sold printed books; a stand needs stock and someone present for 19-21 days.
- Programa Librería y Biblioteca Amiga: up to 50% off PVP for bookshops buying firm during Jornadas (consistent with Ley 25.542 art. 4b-type institutional pricing being separate from retail).

## How-to (zero spend)
1. Register free on the FILBA professional community (owner's GO; one account in the owner's or the project's name) ~Jan 2027, when 2027 registration opens.
2. Use the directory before the fair: list Chubut/Patagonian publishers, Welsh-Argentine cultural bodies and Buenos Aires indie bookshops; draft (never send) 3-5 intro notes as HubSpot tasks for the owner - offering La visita for their newsletters or as a co-edition partner for a print Spanish edition.
3. Do **not** apply to Nuevo Barrio with an e-book-only, one-title list: a stand needs printed stock and 19+ days of staffing in Buenos Aires. Revisit only if a Spanish print co-edition exists.
4. Rights: if a Spanish/Argentine publisher wants La visita in print, that is an inbound licence; the Fellowship does not help us sell. Keep a one-page rights sheet (title, length, languages cy/en/es, sample chapter link) ready for the directory profile.
5. Measure: success = 1 reply from a Patagonian publisher or bookshop, or 1 newsletter mention, by 10 May 2027.

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Proposal: free FILBA professional registration in Jan 2027 on the owner's GO; directory used for draft-only outreach to Chubut/Trelew/Gaiman publishers and Welsh-Argentine societies; profile links to /ebooks/ (Cedwyn internal link) with the free chapter.
- Nuevo Barrio: **skip for 2027** (no print stock, no staffing). Encuentro Editorial/Fellowship: **not for us** (Argentine rights out, not foreign rights in).
- Ties to the Argentina fixed-price skill: any fair-period code stays at 10%.
