Día del Libro (Fri 23 Apr 2027) + Buenos Aires Book Fair 2027 (Thu 22 Apr – Mon 10 May, Spain guest of honour): zero-spend promo plan for a Welsh-Patagonia heritage e-book
Skills harvest, 31 Oct 2026. Lead from the 13:31 run. Spain's 10% Día del Libro discount rule is already in spain-fixed-book-price-ley-10-2007-ebooks-one-euro-price.md and is not repeated here.
Facts (primary sources, read 31 Oct 2026)
- 51st Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires (FILBA):
- Thu 22 Apr – Mon 10 May 2027 at La Rural, over 45,000 m². Opening act Thu 22 Apr at 18:00; official inauguration Tue 27 Apr at 18:00, opened by Martín Caparrós.
- Hours: weekdays 14–22 h, weekends and holidays 13–22 h (feriadellibro.ar, "Información clave").
- One post-fair news item (sanluistoday) gave 29 Apr – 17 May 2027. The official site wins; recheck in January.
- Professional days: 20–22 Apr 2027.
- Registration is free ("Registro sin cargo"), and the credential also opens the public days.
- There is a Business Center, plus a free international DHL logistics service up to 50 kg (6,900 kg shipped in 2026). Sessions include booksellers, translators and librarians.
- Spain is guest of honour (País Invitado de Honor). Spain's Ministry of Culture announced it on 24 Sep 2026.
- Motto: "El poder de las letras. Memoria, exilio y democracia." It also marks the centenary of the Generación del 27.
- Curator of the Spanish programme: Giselle Etcheverry. The fair states the programme is "a celebration of the diversity of languages and origins".
- Scale. The 50th fair (23 Apr – 11 May 2026) set a record: 1,340,000 visitors, +8%.
- Big groups reported book sales up 10–15% on 2025.
- The Cámara Argentina del Libro called it a weak fair ("floja") for most of the sector. Clarín's headline: "números negativos para las medianas y las chicas".
- Lesson: a paid stand doesn't pay for a small publisher. Ride the attention instead.
- Chubut already has a platform there. In the 47th fair (2023) the province had stand 3114 in the Pabellón Ocre with the Ente Cultural Patagonia ("Territorio Literario"), shared with the other Patagonian provinces. Eleven Chubut authors presented books there.
- Whether a 2027 Chubut stand is planned is not checked.
- Two "book days" for our two Spanish-speaking audiences:
- 23 April: Día Internacional del Libro (UNESCO). It is Spain's Día del Libro, and Spanish law allows a 10% discount that day.
- 15 June: Argentina's own Día del Libro, every year since 1908 (argentina.gob.ar). In 2027 it falls on a Tuesday.
- Our existing buy path. The fair's own coupon and QR tooling exists only on publica.la (see
publica-la-authors-founding-usd-prices-streaming-drm-uk-seller.md). Our own /ebooks/ page with UTM links needs no third party.
How to do it (small heritage publisher, zero spend)
- T-12 weeks (late Jan): confirm the dates on feriadellibro.ar. Check whether Chubut, the Ente Cultural Patagonia or a Welsh-Argentine body has a stand or a talk in the programme (it is usually published in March).
- T-8 weeks: write a one-page Spanish media and partner note that links the book to the fair's theme. For example: migration, memory and the Welsh language in Chubut. It must be factual, with sources and no assertions.
- T-6 weeks: register free for the professional days, but only if someone is actually travelling. Otherwise skip it; the online plan doesn't need it.
- T-4 weeks: build a Spanish landing section, "Leer en abril: Día del Libro y Feria de Buenos Aires", on our own site, with a free first chapter and one price. Make a printable QR card that partners can use on their own stand.
- Fri 23 Apr (Spain): if a discount is wanted, the 10% Día del Libro rule applies to sales to Spain. Run it on our own shop for that day only, and set the same price on every Spanish channel that day.
- Fair weeks (22 Apr – 10 May): post three times a week in Spanish. Tie posts to the fair's daily programme, especially Spanish-guest events on memory and exile. Reply to comments; no DMs to strangers.
- 15 June (Argentina): run a second, smaller push, e.g. "Día del Libro en Argentina", with the free chapter.
- Measure: track UTM
utm_campaign=filba27anddia-libro-27across visits, chapter downloads and sales. Compare with the same weeks in 2026 (the baseline is in the sales-fix log).
How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Proposal only. Nothing is booked, contacted or published. Press and partner contact only on the project lead's GO, as HubSpot drafts.
- The book: La visita de Llandough: guía de bolsillo (the Spanish edition).
- Hook: the Welsh settlement of Chubut, families and records that crossed the Atlantic, and the Welsh language spoken until about 1970. This fits the 2027 theme "memoria, exilio" without stretching it.
- Public copy follows the editorial rules: never name the owner, none of the banned words, no insignia, no family holdings.
- Draft line: "Abril es mes de libros. La visita de Llandough cuenta, con fuentes de archivo, un lugar galés y sus lazos con la Patagonia. Primer capítulo gratis en cedwyn.bucklerfamily.estate/ebooks/."
- Price: keep the one fixed €5.99 for Spain (Ley 10/2007).
- On 23 Apr only, an optional €5.39 (10% off) on every Spain channel at once. That needs the project lead's GO, because it touches live prices.
- For Argentina, no discount. Argentina's own fixed-price law (Ley 25.542) treatment of e-books and fair discounts is not checked. Lead with the free chapter instead.
- Calendar to add to the growth plan:
- 20–22 Apr: professional days, online watch only.
- 22 Apr: fair opens.
- 23 Apr: Día del Libro, Spain price day.
- 27 Apr: inauguration.
- 10 May: fair closes.
- 15 Jun: Argentina's Día del Libro.
- 28 Jul: Gŵyl y Glaniad. Already covered in the Patagonia skills, so only linked here.
- Success bar for the window: at least 1 Spanish-edition sale and 30+ free-chapter downloads with the
filba27ordia-libro-27tags. If none, record it in the sales-fix log and drop the fair from 2028 plans.
