# Comodoro Rivadavia and Trelew book fairs: how outside authors get a slot (2027 cycle)

Comodoro call details come from search snippets of the municipal culture department's own Facebook/Instagram posts (marked "snippet").

## The two fairs

**Comodoro Rivadavia, XIII Feria Internacional del Libro (2026)**
- 30 Jul to 9 Aug 2026; the official page lists "more than 750 events, 22 venues, 11 days" (book launches, talks, workshops, shows). A municipal release of 27 Jul 2026 counted 11 venues and 500+ proposals (snippet). The two counts differ; the higher one is the final programme.
- Free entry, spread across the town centre; the 2026 edition was dedicated to the Chaco poet Aledo Luis Meloni (snippet).
- **Open call: 9 Mar to 30 Jun 2026 inclusive** (Secretaría de Cultura Facebook post, snippet). Two doors: exhibitors (stands, publishers, bookshops) by email to [address kept in the project workspace]; "profesionales" (workshops, talks, artists...) by form. Fees for stands were not checked.
- Local outlets also arranged shop and hotel discounts for fair visitors (snippet) - it is marketed as a regional draw, not only a town event.

**Trelew, Feria del Libro y las Artes (3rd edition 2026)**
- 15-18 Oct 2026, Centro de Convenciones of the Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio (MEF). Run by the Municipalidad de Trelew (Secretaría de Bienestar Integral) with the Province and UNPSJB.
- **Call: open in August, closed 31 Aug 2026**, one online form, open to "escritores, editoriales, bibliotecas, librerías, artistas... de la ciudad y la región" for stands, book presentations, talks, workshops, exhibitions.
- Numbers: 15,000+ visitors in 2025; **20,000+ visitors and 250+ activities in 2026** (Diario Crónica, 18 Oct 2026). Stands included UNPSJB, Biblioteca Agustín Álvarez, the popular libraries and the provincial Education Ministry; programme mixed Trelew, Patagonian and national authors, with many teacher-oriented talks.

## What the evidence states about outsiders
- Both calls are worded for "the city and the region"; Comodoro's is international in name. Neither text bars an author living abroad, but neither mentions remote talks. Not checked: whether a pre-recorded or video-call talk is accepted.
- Practical pattern seen across Chubut fairs (see the Gaiman and Puerto Madryn skills): a talk or workshop slot is free; stands may cost; authors sell through stand bookshops, not from the floor. A digital-only title has nothing to put on a table.
- Trelew's audience leans to schools and teachers; Comodoro's is the bigger general audience.

## Playbook (zero spend)
1. **Calendar**: Comodoro call ~early Mar to 30 Jun 2027 (watch from 1 Mar 2027); Trelew call ~Aug, closing 31 Aug 2027 (watch from 1 Aug 2027).
2. **Offer a talk, not a stand**: 1-page abstract in Spanish, 30-40 min, title tied to the Welsh settlement and records (e.g. Welsh family archives between Wales and Chubut), with a hands-on part for teachers (how to read a 19th-century record).
3. **Partner locally**: propose the talk jointly with a Trelew/Comodoro Welsh association or popular library (Asociación San David Trelew is already in welsh-patagonian-societies-chubut-outreach.md), so a local body holds the slot and presents in person if nobody can travel.
4. **Ask once about remote delivery** in the same email; if refused, offer a recorded talk for their social channels instead.
5. **Conversion**: one QR to the Spanish /ebooks/ page with utm_source=feria-comodoro or feria-trelew, utm_medium=talk; a free first edition as the hook. Fair-week codes (max 10%) only on our own checkout, per the Ley 25.542 skill.
6. **Kill rule**: if a fair produces under 20 tracked visits and no sign-ups, drop it the next year.

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Add two dated watch items (HubSpot NOT_STARTED, owner GO before any submission): "Comodoro FIL 2027 call opens ~Mar" and "Trelew FLyA 2027 call ~Aug".
- Draft (not send) one Spanish talk abstract and a teacher handout; reuse it for Gaiman (June), Comodoro (Jul-Aug), Puerto Madryn (Aug) and Trelew (Oct) - one asset, four fairs.
- Public text: never name the owner; no banned words; Cedwyn links only.
