Casa del Libro for La visita: Tagus is gone (Vivlio since 2023); its own self-publishing door is paid UDL Digital; the free way in is a distributor
Skills harvest, 31 Oct 2026. Lead from the 13:31 run: "Casa del Libro / Tagus self-publishing portal: fees, euro pricing, fixed-price fit".
What the primary sources show
- Tagus no longer exists as Casa del Libro's e-book platform. On 6 Jul 2023 Casa del Libro (Grupo Planeta, 54 shops; e-books then 6% of its sales) dropped Tagus and signed with the French company Vivlio. Vivlio supplies the e-reader, the reading app ("Vivlio Casa del Libro" on iOS and Android) and the e-book catalogue. The catalogue went to over 1 million titles, "en castellano, más de medio millón" (Eloy Mariaud, Casa del Libro e-commerce director, to elDiario.es). The e-book store now runs at ebooks.casadellibro.com under "My Vivlio" terms. So there is no "Tagus portal" to sign up to. Old guides that say "publish on Tagus" are out of date.
- Casa del Libro's own self-publishing door is UDL Digital (casadellibro.com), run by Universo de Letras, Planeta's assisted-publishing imprint:
- The "Plan básico" costs €49.99. It covers the book page, the author page and distribution to "las principales plataformas de venta".
- The ISBN is issued under the UDL DIGITAL collection, so UDL becomes the imprint of record on that edition.
- Extras: assisted EPUB conversion €99, cover design €149.
- Manuscripts go in as Word, Pages or RTF. Contact: [address kept in the project workspace]
- The UDL site (udldigital.com) refused a TLS connection from here, so its royalty split and contract terms were not checked.
- Universo de Letras states its books reach Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, Casa del Libro, FNAC and El Corte Inglés ("más de 5.000 puntos de venta"). It also scouts for Planeta: five self-published titles moved to Planeta imprints (Booket, Alienta) in 2022–2024 "con datos de mercado".
- Distributors that list Casa del Libro as a channel:
- PublishDrive: its aggregator comparison names "Casa del LIbro". But its Free plan reaches only Apple, B&N and Kobo (see
single-distributor-publishdrive-free-vs-draft2digital-2026.md), so Casa del Libro needs a paid plan: Starter $16.99 a month. - StreetLib One: €299 once. Its partner list has Casa del Libro (see
streetlib-one-299-eur-no-free-plan-gandhi-listed-bajalibros-not.md). - Draft2Digital: has fed Vivlio since 19 May 2020 and still lists "Vivlio & Vivlio Libraries" on its partners page. Our standing rule is never Draft2Digital, and since Apr 2026 it charges a $20 activation fee. Whether D2D titles reach Casa del Libro's Spanish shelf through Vivlio was not checked.
- Fixed price. Casa del Libro is a retailer under Ley 10/2007, so it must sell at the publisher's price, within 95–100% of it (see
spain-fixed-book-price-ley-10-2007-ebooks-one-euro-price.md). It currently advertises "5% dto." site-wide, which sits inside that 5% tolerance. Whichever route we use, the euro price is set at the distributor, never by Casa del Libro.
How to do it (any small publisher)
- Don't search for Tagus. Check whether a title can reach Casa del Libro by searching ebooks.casadellibro.com, or by asking the distributor whether its feed includes "Casa del Libro (Vivlio)".
- Keep your own ISBN. A service that issues its ISBN under its own collection, as UDL does, makes it the publisher of record for that edition. Moving later then means a new ISBN, and the reviews and sales history stay behind.
- Pick the cheapest feed that names Casa del Libro and fits your rules. Compare it with what Casa del Libro is worth: its share of Spanish e-book unit sales is not published.
- Type one euro price, VAT included (4% in Spain), at the distributor. Never convert it from GBP.
- Watch for the store page within about 2–6 weeks. Then use the "5% dto." Casa del Libro shows as the real floor, not a discount you can plan around.
How we apply it to Cedwyn
- Drop "Casa del Libro / Tagus portal" from the lead list. The portal is gone, and the replacement is a paid assisted service that takes the imprint. Under the never-pay rule and the project lead's control of the books, UDL Digital is a skip: €49.99 plus a UDL ISBN on La visita.
- No zero-cost route reaches Casa del Libro today. PublishDrive Free excludes it, StreetLib One costs €299, and D2D is ruled out. So Casa del Libro stays parked behind any decision the project lead makes to pay for wide Spanish distribution. If he ever approves StreetLib One (one payment), Casa del Libro and Gandhi come with it, and that is the better buy than UDL.
- When it happens, the price is the same €5.99 including VAT already proposed for every Spanish channel, with no extra Casa del Libro promotion.
- Recheck trigger: Universo de Letras or Casa del Libro launches a free (commission-only) upload portal, or Vivlio opens a direct publisher portal for Spain.
- Proposal only. No account opened and nothing changed.
