# British Council Connections Through Culture: up to £15k for UK–Argentina, no match funding

Checked 31 Oct 2026. British Council Argentina's own arts pages list no literature programme or FILBA stand for 2026: its listed work is design (DAE-Creative Bootcamp), music (MUTEK) and visual arts (Shrigley). The real British Council money for a UK–Argentina literature project is the global **Connections Through Culture (CTC)** grant.

## The facts (2026 round)
- **Amount:** up to **£15,000** for UK–Argentina partnerships. Argentina is in the top band with Bangladesh, Colombia, Pakistan, Peru and Saudi Arabia. The grant covers costs for both partners.
- **Match funding: NOT required**, and having it doesn't raise the score (FAQ). In-kind support, ticket sales and other income are allowed if no cost line is funded twice. **This fits the never-pay rule**, unlike PICE Movilidad (50% co-funding) or ACW (10% match).
- **Partners:** one UK-based partner plus one partner **legally based in Argentina** for the whole project. The lead should be whichever partner hosts most of the activity; if it's mostly in Argentina, the Argentine partner leads.
- **Excluded:** projects that are **solely commercial**, for example ones whose main aim is to sell or promote a product. Also excluded: routine staff time, overheads, and anything already funded.
- **Timing:** 2026 opened 17 Jun and closed 12 Aug 2026 at 23:59 BST through Good Grants; decisions from Oct 2026. They reported a record number of applications. Expect a similar window around **mid-June to mid-August 2027**: **not checked** until the 2027 call is published.
- **Smaller alternative:** Beyond Literature Borders (British Council + Speaking Volumes), **£7,000** grants for small UK literature organisations that are diverse-led or work with under-represented voices, for organisations new to international work. 2024 call ran 12 Feb–12 Apr; the 2026 grantees partnered Armenia, Mexico, Egypt, Kenya/Uganda and Ghana/Senegal. No 2027 call found.
- **Network, not a grant:** British Council Wales's **Welsh Language Project** has placed Welsh teachers in Chubut since 1997 (2026 teachers announced 13 Feb 2026). They are a well-connected local audience; it doesn't fund books.

## What a fundable project looks like
A **cultural exchange with creative outcomes**, with the book as a source, not the product. For example: a bilingual (cy/es) community archive-and-memory workshop series run by a Chubut Welsh association and a UK partner, producing a free online exhibition or reading. **Not fundable:** "promote and sell the e-book".

## How we apply it to Cedwyn
1. **Gate:** Cedwyn as an e-book shop is **not eligible** (commercial). The route is a non-profit cultural project, so it is a programme-office **PROPOSAL** and needs the owner's GO.
2. **Partner short-list (draft only):** an Argentina-based legal entity to lead, such as the Asociación Cultural Galesa Puerto Madryn, Asociación San David Trelew or a Gaiman museum or library. A UK partner is also needed; a Cedwyn non-profit vehicle doesn't exist (**not checked**). Record that as only-the-owner-can-decide.
3. **Calendar:** 1 Jun 2027, check arts.britishcouncil.org for the 2027 call. If GO, draft the application early June and submit before the August close.
4. **Credit, not sales:** the funded output links to Cedwyn's evidence pages as the source. Any /ebooks/ link stays outside the funded deliverables, so the project isn't "solely commercial".
5. **Don't repeat:** WLE/BCW London Book Fair route, ACW International Opportunities Fund gate, AC/E PICE Movilidad (separate files).
