Getting La visita onto Bajalibros: no public publisher signup; the store runs on publica.la, whose Marketplace is the open door
Harvested 31 Oct 2026 (skills harvest). The last run found StreetLib's partner list has no Bajalibros (streetlib-one-299-eur-no-free-plan-gandhi-listed-bajalibros-not.md). This run looked for Bajalibros' own sign-up page for publishers. Proposals only: no account was opened.
What the pages show (read 31 Oct 2026)
- No publisher sign-up on Bajalibros itself. The live site (ar.bajalibros.com) has only reader pages in its footer: FAQ, privacy, terms, and one support email. The FAQ is a reader FAQ. Nothing there invites publishers.
- Bajalibros runs on publica.la. The terms read: "la Plataforma proporcionada por Queryloop Inc para Bajalibros Argentina". The privacy policy reads: "QUERYLOOP, INC., en adelante denominada 'publica.la'". The footer also carries "© 2025 Infobae", the Argentine news group now behind the brand.
- publica.la's own case study of Bajalibros (publica.la/en/case-studies/bajalibros):
- stores in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Spain from one back end, each with "local branding, currency and payment methods";
- +20% total revenue in the first year after the international stores launched;
- 30% of 2024's new subscriptions came from Colombia and 25% from Mexico;
- 10,000+ app downloads in Spain in Q1 2025.
- Bajalibros sells single copies and subscriptions. Live ARS prices seen: ARS 12,499–14,599 for translated romance titles.
- The publica.la Marketplace (publica.la/en/features/marketplace): "Publish your titles to the Marketplace and every bookshop in the network becomes a potential sales channel".
- The content owner sets the sale price and the discount terms, and the platform splits each sale automatically.
- Allow and block lists control which stores may sell the book.
- Stores "browse the Marketplace, add products to your inventory". So each store chooses: listing in the Marketplace does not guarantee that Bajalibros picks the title up.
- Publisher plans (publica.la/en/pricing):
- Revenue Share: $0 a month, 35% commission per sale plus $0.25 per transaction on its own checkout. Includes "Upload content to the marketplace — to be sold by publica.la's bookshop network".
- Growth: $249 a month, 25%. Enterprise: from $492 a month, 15%.
- Author plan, publica.now (publica.now home, read): 15% + USD 0.30 per sale, "sin cuota mensual ... y sin comisión extra por aparecer en el marketplace". Their example: a USD 20 work leaves USD 16.74. A "Founding Authors" offer at 10% for the first 100 creators is shown as taken ("100 creadores ya tomaron").
- Not checked, because the sign-up pages sit behind a bot challenge (403):
- whether a UK company can sign up and be paid;
- which currency a Marketplace price is set in, and whether Bajalibros shows it in ARS;
- what reseller discount Bajalibros expects.
Numbers for one title
- Our own publica.now store: at an ARS-equivalent of about USD 5, we keep about USD 3.95 per sale, using publica.now's own formula of 15% + 0.30.
- Through Bajalibros on Marketplace terms: we set the reseller discount, and the store keeps it. A 40% discount, typical in the trade (our assumption, not their figure), on a USD 5 book leaves about USD 3 before platform fees.
- Compared with StreetLib One: €299 once, but no Bajalibros. publica.la costs nothing up front and reaches the one store StreetLib can't, so it is the zero-spend candidate.
How-to
- Open a publica.now (author) or publica.la Revenue Share (publisher) account in a browser. A human may need to pass the bot check.
- Upload the EPUB with complete metadata, our own ISBN and language
es. Titles must be "fully processed" before they can be offered to the network. - Set the sale price per currency:
- ARS for Argentina;
- EUR equal to the Spanish fixed price (
spain-fixed-book-price-ley-10-2007-ebooks-one-euro-price.md); - MXN in line withmexico-spanish-ebook-kobo-mxn-amazon-mx-35pct-gandhi.md. - Publish the title to the Marketplace. Allow-list Bajalibros, or leave it open, and set a reseller discount.
- Ask publica.la support (or the Bajalibros address on its own site) to add the title to the Bajalibros inventory. This is first contact, so it is the owner's call and goes as a draft only.
- Check for the title on ar.bajalibros.com, and on the MX/CO/ES stores, every week until it appears. Log the date.
How we apply it to Cedwyn
- La visita (Spanish EPUB) → Bajalibros: PROPOSAL, zero spend, owner's go needed because it opens an account and contacts a company. Run the publica.la Revenue Share or publica.now route above.
- This replaces the old "StreetLib Basic → Bajalibros" idea, which the last run disproved.
- It keeps the reason Bajalibros mattered: Chubut buyers pay in ARS and avoid the 30% card surcharge on our GBP checkout (
argentina-card-surcharges-30pct-ebook-checkout-es.md). - Draft for the owner (HubSpot draft only, never sent by an agent): one short Spanish note to publica.la asking:
- (a) whether a UK publisher can join Revenue Share and be paid in GBP or USD;
- (b) whether Marketplace prices can be set in ARS;
- (c) how a title is proposed to Bajalibros.
- Side benefit: publica.la lists free EPUB and EPUB accessibility checkers on its site. They are browser-based, so there is nothing to install. They are a second opinion beside
epub-accessibility-check-no-install-ace-app-pubcoder-thorium.md. - Watch: Bajalibros' Spain store also sells into Spain, so any EUR price there must equal the fixed price on every other channel.
